“Great, but how are we unique? Fantastic, but how are we differentiating ourselves?” -- two things constantly asked by Matthew (“Matt”) Pelikan. Matt constantly seeks to create innovative strategies for his clients and seeks to always maintains a forward-thinking approach. The litigation environment is ever changing, and Matt seeks to always stay ahead of the curve. Matt utilizes a customized software platform for volume litigation seen in “judicial hell holes” such as Madison County, St. Clair County and St. Louis City that helps he and his team streamline litigation resulting in a more efficient product for his clients.
Matt is the managing partner of Pelikan & Orris, LLC. For more than a decade, he has represented corporations and individuals in high-risk litigation including personal injury and business claims. He has extensive experience in handling claims involving toxic exposures, premises liability claims, product liability claims, and workers’ compensation claims. In addition to individuals and local businesses, Matt represents manufacturers and distributors of industrial equipment and component parts, owners of large production facilities, and commercial and industrial contractors. Matt has been recognized as a Rising Star by Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers in 2009 and 2014-2020. He has also been recognized by his peers for inclusion in the Best Lawyers in America for the years 2016-2020.
Matt has experience in handling all facets of litigation including advising clients on litigation avoidance, pre-suit analysis and resolution, as well as handling all phases of active litigation including alternate dispute resolution through trial. Tom’s practice concentrates primarily on the defense of personal injury lawsuits involving products liability, premises liability and toxic torts. He currently represents several major manufacturers in a variety of cases throughout Missouri and Illinois. In addition, Tom has served as a national trial counsel for a major asbestos defendant and continues to represent a number of clients in both individual and mass tort litigation relating to industrial exposures and occupational injuries and diseases.
Tom’s has tried many lawsuits to conclusion throughout the Midwest and has argued a number of appeals in state and federal courts. He was recognized as one of The Best Lawyers in America in the area of Mass Tort Litigation/Class Actions for the 2017 publication, one of The Best Lawyers in America in the area of Mass Tort Litigation/Class Actions for the 2016 publication, and received Martindale- Hubbell’s AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating for 2016.

Erin Flynn
- Erin Flynn Bio
Erin Flynn is creative, practical and collaborative in her approach to practicing law. With over ten years of legal experience, Erin has had a substantial and diverse career. Before joining the firm, she worked as a sole practitioner in Southern Illinois, representing individuals and businesses in a variety of legal matters. During that time, she also served as general counsel for three companies and as a board member for two nonprofit organizations. Prior to starting her own practice, Erin had spent time working on both sides of litigation, giving her unique insights into building an optimal strategy for each individual matter.

As the attention to detail guy, Ken has earned a reputation for excellence in his primary practice area of product liability defense. Prior to joining Pelikan & Orris, Ken had over twenty years of trial experience in the defense of personal injury lawsuits involving products liability, premises liability, and toxic torts. Ken’s experience in toxic tort defense includes cases involving benzene, welding fumes, asbestos, and various other chemical exposures. He has defended numerous clients throughout Missouri and Illinois including manufacturers, distributors, general contractors, property owners, and insurance companies.
Ken is skilled at finding the finest detail and effectively communicating complex issues to be both comprehensible and compelling. He prides himself on providing results-oriented legal services that are predictable. He keeps his clients informed of ongoing case developments and strategies, while also seeking to prevent future litigation.

- Katy Linnenbringer Bio
Katy focuses her practice on the defense of asbestos and toxic tort cases. She represents a variety of clients including product manufacturers, premises owners, and contractors in litigation across Missouri and Illinois. Katy has experience drafting pleadings and written discovery, taking and defending depositions, and drafting motions.
She began her legal career as a criminal defense attorney in private practice, where she practiced in a number of state and federal courts throughout Missouri and Illinois
Katy was born and primarily raised in St. Louis. She lives in Webster Groves with her husband, two young children and a crazy english bulldog. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering with the Ollie Hinkle Heart Foundation, gardening and finding projects to do around her 130 year old home.

Amy Williams has been practicing law for 27 years, focusing solely on asbestos litigation for the last 19 years. Amy has significant experience in preparing pleadings and written discovery, taking and defending depositions, and drafting and arguing motions. She previously practiced family law.

Mike Martinez Bio
Mike Martinez is a litigator and trial attorney whose practice is concentrated in the defense of product liability, premises liability and occupational injury disease claims, with an emphasis on asbestos litigation. He is licensed to practice law in the state courts of Illinois, Indiana and Missouri, and has over a decade of experience in all phases of asbestos trial practice, including devising legal strategy and pursuing innovative legal defenses in various jurisdictions nationwide; uncovering undisclosed alternate exposure history; preparing corporate witnesses for deposition; arguing dispositive and pretrial motions; serving as national coordinating counsel; and defending his clients' interests at trial.
Mike also has extensive appellate experience, having served as lead appellate counsel for asbestos defendants in the Indiana Supreme Court and Illinois’ Fourth District Court of Appeals, and prevailing before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in defense of a national telemarketing firm accused of violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. He has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by Illinois Super Lawyers magazine for 2017 -2023 and was a featured speaker at the 2017 and 2019 Annual Conference of the National Forum for Environmental & Toxic Tort Issues (FETTI) on topics relating to premises and employer liability for occupational disease injury claims.

Mike has also represented victims of employment harassment and discrimination, including prevailing in federal court on a contested claim of racially discriminatory pay disparity on behalf of an indigent client who had initially filed pro se against a major university represented by an Amlaw 200 law firm.
A local of the Chicago area, Mike is passionate about giving back to his community. He is a member of the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois and participates in its JD Mentors program, maintaining long-term mentorship relationships with newer attorneys of diverse backgrounds. He previously served as a court appointed special advocate for children in the child welfare system and regularly donates to various youth-based community groups in Chicago. James Tomaska Bio
James Tomaska concentrates his practice in product liability, premises liability, toxic tort, and transportation law. He has represented both governmental and private entities in employment-related disputes. James has successfully defended matters on behalf of his clients to both settlement and jury verdicts. He was selected as a “Rising Star” in the February 2010-2012 issues of Illinois Super Lawyers Magazine and Chicago Magazine, a recognition earned by no more than 2.5 percent of lawyers in Illinois.
James has extensive experience in both civil and criminal litigation. As an Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney, James was a member of the Criminal Appeals Division, the Narcotics Prosecutions Bureau, and the Felony Review Unit. In addition to trying several cases to verdict as a prosecutor, he participated in cases from investigation to indictment through oral arguments before the Illinois Appellate Court.
Since he entered private practice, James has defended hundreds of civil matters in jurisdictions throughout the state of Illinois. He has extensive experience in asbestos litigation representing product manufacturers, premise owners, and contractors in all phases of litigation. James has also been involved in the defense of cases in Missouri, Indiana, Iowa, New York, and Pennsylvania.
